Assignment of Benefits

Abuse of assignment of benefits agreements harms policyholders and drives up insurance costs for everyone.

The Problem

Assignment of benefits agreements allow third parties, such as contractors or repair companies, to take over insurance claims, often leading to inflated costs, unnecessary litigation, and in severe cases, fraud, all of which ultimately drives up premiums for everyone.

ATRA’s Position

Limit or regulate assignment of benefit practices to protect policyholders from predatory behavior while ensuring legitimate claims are paid promptly.
