Tiger Joyce Warns State Risks Losing Business to More Competitive Neighbors

American Tort Reform Association President Tiger Joyce appeared on MetroNews Talkline today to discuss West Virginia’s civil justice system. While West Virginia made significant progress in legal reform a decade ago, the state has since fallen behind as other states like Florida have surpassed it in improving their business climates while Georgia and South Carolina look to follow suit. West Virginia is no longer the leader in tort reform it once was when it was removed from the American Tort Reform Foundation’s “Judicial Hellholes®” list in 2015. The state’s legislature must work harder to keep their promises to West Virginians and support the enactment of meaningful tort reform laws to remain competitive and attract businesses. Without continued progress, West Virginia risks sliding back into its former status as a Judicial Hellhole®.
